Mountain climbers are essentially a staple in all large group training programs, but for the wrong reasons. Far too often, I see this exercise butchered with cringeworthy form at a high intensity. If you're doing mountain climbers for the sake of feeling "beat up" after a workout, stop. Your wrists, back, and hips will thank me in the long run.
Instead, we should look to use mountain climbers as a tool towards improving your core stability. Here are four mountain climber variations we use during our CSP Strength Camps in order to target this goal, which will have great carry over to all of our other loaded movements.
